Here is a listing of useful resources that you can take advantage of at Ball State University

Bracken Library

Bracken Library is home to many resources that are available to all BSU students.  While many people are not very interested in the usefulness of the library we suggest that you definitely look into using any resource available that will help you when you visit the library.


The university library also has a very useful website where you can access many of the information from dorm room or anywhere there is internet access available.  There are plenty of people available at all times to help whenever you need assistance at the  library as well.


The Writing Center

The Writing Center at Ball State is an excellent resource for students that may need advice or extra help with writing their papers for any class.  After setting up an appointment, one of the staff will help you with whatever you may need to have a successful draft.

There are four different ways to receive help from The Writing Center:
1.  Visiting the Main Center in Robert Bell 291 (M-W 10-7, Th-F 10-5)
2.  After Hours Center in Bracken Library 302 (T-W 8PM-10PM)
3.  Online Tutoring (by appointment)
4.  Ask a Tutor/IM

The Learning Center

University College's Learning Center helps Ball State students enhance their academic success by providing free tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, and workshops covering a variety of course topics.


Students that take adavantage of these resources earn higher GPA's and are pleased with the services provided.  The instructors and tutors are fellow students that currently attend BSU and have already taken the classes they are helping other students with.

The English Department website is a helpful tool that any student currently enrolled in an English class can use to find out how the professors actually grade papers, rules on providing sources, and any other general information needed to help you while taking an English course here at Ball State.
